Vestnik of Saint Petersburg University Asian and African Studies
Vestnik of Saint-Petersburg State University, Series 13 is the interdisciplinary journal on history, languages, literature, cultural anthropology and other subfields in Asian and African Studies.
The Journal was launched by the Faculty of Asian and African Studies. The aforesaid Faculty belongs to the University of St. Petersburg, Russia that dates back to 1855 when the Faculty was founded in compliance with the Royal Decree enacted by Emperor Alexandre II. The Faculty is widely known for its achievements in education and research, both covering about one hundred languages of Asia and Africa.
Publishing and review articles maintain the highest academic standard. The Editorial Board of the journal includes eminent scholars, both Russian and international.
The journal is primarily for academic specialists, professionals in the field. The journal welcomes contributions both in Russian and English.
Authors wishing to submit articles should send them to the Executive Editor via e-mails or personally. Submitted manuscripts should meet the formatting and content guidelines (see at http://vestnik.unipress.ru/ENG/rules/13.pdf), otherwise the papers will be declined and returned to the authors. The maximum length for articles is 8,000 words. All submissions should include an abstract of 100-150 words, 3-5 key-words and note on author’s affiliation and contacts.
If accepted, the manuscript will be sent to (normally) 2 reviewers. The authors will get written feedback within 2 months (but this can vary considerably) from the Editorial Board that will read the reviews and make a decision in terms of the categories below:
- Publish submitted article without modifications
- Publish with some modifications
- Resubmit with revision
- Reject
The publisher reserves the right to copyedit and proofread all articles accepted for publication.
Editorial policy
Series 13: Asian and African Studies of Vestnik is a peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary journal published in four issues per year and committed to foster original, independent, accurate and comprehensive professional research on the history, cultures, languages, literatures, folklore, religions, philosophy, ethnological issues, social practices and politics of the Asian and African peoples and societies. By publicizing newest, essential and well-argued results of current investigations the Journal aims at establishing an open intellectual forum for leading experts, qualified specialists and promising students in the field of Asian and African Studies both from Russian and foreign academic institutions. The Journal accepts scholarly articles, book reviews and reports on various academic activities in the field. The languages of publications are Russian and English. The Journal is included in the list of the certified scientific periodicals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation.
