430 The Image of Peter the Great in the Countries of East Asia and paved the path for Russia to follow for many year to come. Represented in the Chapter Vietnamese educational literature in the form of history school-books, historical reference-books and the translated book by an American historian-writer, Pulitzer prize-winner Robert K. Massie «Peter the Great: His Life and World» give readers a chance to understand to what extent the personality of the Russian emperor and his reforms have become a common knowledge in Vietnam. The year 2016 saw appearance of two comical strips in Vietnam which tell about the life and statesmanship of Peter the Great. In them Peter I is portrayed as a purposeful resolute state reformer and a modernizer determined to achieve his goals. Vietnamese authors are mainly interested in Peter’s coming to power, his travels in Europe, Russia’s war with Sweden, his policies in the Far East. Nowadays, on the Vietnamese educational, tourist and news internet sites, the image of Peter I is being actively shaped. The Vietnamese authors who publish their articles or videoclips and other materials about the Russian emperor show much interest in the culture and history of Russia, looking for the points of convergence and possible common grounds between the Russian and Vietnamese realities. The information about Peter the Great presented in these sources is unequivocally positive, invokes curiosity about Russia and creates a positive image of the Russian emperor in the eyes of the Vietnamese.
