The book focuses on the foreign policy of Peter I in this part of the Asian continent and his contribution into development of socio-cultural interaction of Russia with the countries of the region, demonstrates the evolution of Peter’s image in these countries from the first mentions of his name in various sources up to the present day ones, as well as analyzes the character of available interpretations of his image and activities and the way they are evaluated in historical studies, textbooks, fiction, magazines and net (cyber) literature. Apart from this, the monography determines the place Peter I occupies in commonly accepted general impressions and opinions of Russia in East Asia, demonstrates how the image of this tsar underwent transformations and actualizations in the course of time and in different historical periods of the East Asian countries. The book contains a set of illustrations and is aimed at a wide circle of readers. The Introduction (by N.
