Biography:
After having studied for several years in Russia and China (Kaifeng, Tianjin), I received my Ph.D. from St.Petersburg University with a dissertation on women position in medieval China, my mentor was Dr. Yevgeny I. Kychanov. Following my graduation I started teaching in the Faculty of Asian&African Studies at SPbU and working for Confucius Institute.
My research interests cover a wide range of academic disciplines, such as Chinese theatre (both traditional and contemporary spoken drama), Dunhuang Studies, Cross-Cultural Exchange, East Asian Performance and Visual Culture, Gender. Besides the academic world I also work in professional theatre and arts sphere.
For the last six years I’ve developed and curated more than 20 cultural projects related to theatre and contemporary art.

- 2017 — present: Associate professor, St.Petersburg University, Russia, Faculty of Asian&African Studies, Department of History of Far Eastern countries.
Undergraduate courses taught: History of dynastic China (from the Qin through the Yuan periods); Premodern East Asian History; Introduction to Tangut Studies; Introduction to Dunhuang Studies; Gender and Chinese History; Intellectual Thought in East Asian Countries.
I supervise undergraduate and graduate students interested in premodern Chinese history, Dunhuang and Tangut Studies, Chinese theatre and cinema.
