Mikluho-Maclay Abstract: The article describes the history of the emergence and collection of the African collection of the IEA RAS from the first steps to the last acquisitions of African artifacts. The scientific path of the recently died K. P. Kalinovskaya, a student of D. A. Olderogge and the founder of African studies at the IEA RAS, is described in detail.
