Orlovskaya Halide Edip Adıvar’s Novel “Yeni Turan” as a Reflection of Nationalist tendencies in the Ottoman Empire at the Beginning of the 20 th century After the victory of the Young Turk movement and the establishment of the period of the Second Constitution in the Ottoman Empire, it became obvious that a deep crisis in all spheres of social life could not be resolved only by a change in the ruling elite. To overcome pressing problems, radical changes were required, and the question of which path of development should the country take became a cornerstone among the politically active intellectuals [3: 127]. Halide EdipAdıvar was also involved in the political life of the empire and was one of the leading writers during the Second Constitution. Collaborating with the magazine “Türk Yurdu”, she gets acquainted with such Turanic and Turkic ideologists as Yusuf Akchura and Ziya Gökalp [4: 145]. Their ideas, especially those of Ziya Gökalp, had a great influence on the formation of the political views of Halide Edip Adıvar. Imbued with these views, Halide Edip Adıvar decides to present her vision and try to give her answer to the question of what the future of the empire should be. The answer was the novel “Yeni Turan” (“New Turan”), written in 1912 [1: 27]. In this novel Halide Edip proposes the path of the country's development according to the model of Turkish Turkism and at the same time specifies what exactly the writer understands by the idea of Turkism.
