104 get a revenge for her. Therefore, he used his power as Rama to eliminate an evil and to protect his wife, Sita. Thus, it is proved that Vi ṣṇ u was the mighty god who used his pow- er to protect the righteousness of the world as a god and avatar by van- quishing the evil, that no one could make him be defeated, and to pro- tect the moral as a good example. Therefore, he was clearly the mighty god of this story. 5.3. The role of Brahma as the mighty god in King Rama I’s Ramayana In Hinduism, Brahma is a god of creation who created things, lives, the world and the universe. As King Vajiravudh explained, “Brahma was the first among 3 important gods in Hinduism who created everything, Svayambhu, and existed by himself” [Vajiravudh 2013: 80]. However, in King Rama I’s Ramayana Brahma was de- scribed as god who lived in Brahma’s heaven (a place that is more heavenly, purer and higher than any other heaven), so, there was more than one Brahma (such as Brahma, Sahabodhi Brahma, Dhada Brahma, and Malivaga Brahma), who hadn’t done the same duties as original Brahma in Hinduism. Therefore, Brahma who appeared in this story always used the power to create and protect the righteous- ness of the world. 5.3.1. Using the power to create In the story, Sahabodhi Brahma used his power to create Lanka which would be the kingdom of Demon. Sahabodhi Brahma used his power to establish the kingdom of Demon by ordering Vi ṣṇ u Brahma, his servant, to build it, thus proving his mighty power. When the task was completed, Sahabodhi Brahma named it “Lanka” and invited De- mons to stay under Dhada Brahma who was the starter of Dasakan- tha’s dynasty, the land rulers. Thus, all Brahmas were mighty, and Sa- habodhi Brahma was a mighty god who used his power to create. 5.3.2. Using the power to protect the righteousness of the world In the story, Brahma used his power to protect the righteousness of the world as it appeared that Malivaga Brahma warned Śiva about his bless that he gave to Asurabrahma (Demon), the diamond club and the bless that Asurabrahma could not be defeated.
