101 The analysis shows that Śiva used his power to curse a culprit (as punishment for the crime, which could cease an evil and support the right side in the same time). Moreover, it becomes obvious that Śiva al- ways supported Rama. 5.1.3. Using the power to bless In King Rama I’s Ramayana, Śiva used his power as the mighty god to bless. His blessing was a reward to those who loyalty and faithfully praised and served Śiva, and to those who did good. Śiva himself granted a reward for the ones who were really loyal to him and praised him faithfully, with those who expected the reward having to do something outstanding to please Śiva. Ronnapaktra, Da- sakantha’s son and the crown prince of Lanka, established the fire rit- ual to praise all 3 mighty gods: Śiva, Vi ṣṇ u and Brahma. He asked the gods to grant him the celestial weapons, which were hardly be defeat- ed, as a reward for his faithful action. Pleased by Ronnapaktra’s action, Śiva gave him Brahmastra Bow and shifting magic to look like Indra, the heaven king. It illustrates that Śiva used his power to bless as a re- ward to someone who praised him. Moreover, Śiva blessed those who did good as a reward as with Pha- ya Kakasa (Bali). It is shown in the episode when the mount Meru col- lapsed, everyone volunteered to restore it, but the only ones to succeed- ed were Phaya Kakasa and Sukriva. When they fulfilled this assignment, Śiva blessed Phaya Kakasa. When the latter had to fight, he was able to gain a half of his enemy’s power to increase his; Śiva also named him “Bali” and granted him a celestial trident as a reward. This story proves that Śiva was a mighty god who used his power to bless as a reward for the loyalty and goodness regardless belonging to the right or dark side. It also shows that he was the greatest god of all and respected both right and dark sides. However, if those belonging to the dark side used his blessing in a wrong way, Śiva would use his pow- er to solve the problem by himself or order other person to deal with it. It means that despite Śiva’s giving his blessing to everyone worthy, he would always support the right side. 5.1.4. Using the power to exterminate the evil Śiva was a mighty god who used his power to exterminate the evil not only through curse, but also using violence. It is shown in the story about Triburam (Demon) who tried to harm celestial people. Śiva him- self killed Triburam because the latter tried to harm the heaven, so it
